CITY CLERK
Approve Minutes: July 20, 2019 (action item)
A motion to approve the minutes was made by Councilman Meek, Councilman Arnold 2nd. Motion passed.
Elections information is on the website
Discuss moving council meetings to 2nd Saturday. Council discussed moving the meetings to 2nd Saturday. Item will be added to the September Agenda.
TREASURER’S REPORT
August Finance Report (action item)
A motion to accept the Finance Report was made by Councilman Wells, Councilman Meek 2nd. Motion passed.
FY 2020 BUDGET HEARING (action item)
A motion to approve the 2020 Budget was made by Councilman Arnold, Councilman Meek 2nd. Motion passed.
ROADS
Paving between fire house and City Hall (action item)
Council heard from Mr. Butters. Council discussed the paving project. There was a discussion about how the property is split. There were some concerns about hitting irrigation lines. A motion to approve the paving project at 50% of the presented $14,000 bid was made by Councilman Arnold, Councilman Wells 2nd. Motion passed.
Councilman Meek discussed some divots in roads and would like them to get filled in.
HISTORICAL Report given by Councilman Arnold
There are a few weeks left until the museums will be closed up. It’s been a pretty good year with some good helpers. Some new items have been added. Finances are pretty good. There’s some work that was done on the Merc. Raffle tickets are still being sold for the quilt. Repairs for the buildings will make those funds deplete quickly. Historical is talking about doing some fundraising so repairs can be done. There was a discussion about city funds to help with the buildings. Historical typically takes care of building maintenance.
IRRIGATION
There have been some issues with too much water running down the roads. There is a need to have good contact numbers for property owners in case of an emergency with their system.
CEMETERY
Some ashes will be sent to Councilman Meek for interment placement in the cemetery.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Mayor Davies asked about a new metal flag pole and pricing. Council discussed having like height but not too much shorter. Mr. Keefer knows of a gentleman that may have a new flagpole for sale for less.
Mayor Davies discussed a man that is interested in a piece of equipment. They discussed prices and selling the equipment.
CONSTITUENT INPUT
Mr. Butters discussed the petition going around about removable speed bumps. He encouraged council to look at the speed bumps. He wanted to know what council thought about speed bumps. He will also be asking the county about putting speed bump signs in along with the speed bumps.
The Connex box will be moved to the back of the building and have a shelter built over it.
