CITY CLERK
Approve Minutes: April 21, 2018 (action item)
A motion to approve the minutes was made by Councilman Arnold, Councilman Meek 2nd. Motion passed.
Building Permit (action item)
A motion to approve the Steffensen building permit, after certain specific details are included on the application, was made by Councilman Arnold, Councilman Cassel 2nd. Motion passed.
TREASURER’S REPORT
May Finance Report (action item)
A motion to approve the Finance Report was made by Councilman Wells, Councilman Arnold 2nd. Motion passed.
ROADS
Mayor Davies reported on the roads. He put in a call to Bill Jones and is waiting to hear from him about the asphalt. He asked council about doing the oil option. There is a bit of time before it needs to happen. Water would need to be available for the dust abatement to be applied. Mayor Davies will wait to hear from Mr. Jones. If the asphalt is not available then dust abatement will be applied.
HISTORICAL
The museums are in good shape. Councilman Arnold thanked Dennis, Linda, Clark and Phoebe for their help cleaning the museums. The museums need help from volunteers.
IRRIGATION
Mayor Davies presented a request for the piping the city has in their stock. Council discussed piping issues and needs.
Settlement Agreement and Easement-
A motion to approve the Settlement Agreement regarding the Steffensen property was made by Councilman Wells, Councilman Meek 2nd. Motion passed.
A motion to approve the Waterline Easement regarding the Steffensen property was made by Councilman Wells, Councilman Arnold 2nd. Motion passed.
Councilman Wells discussed some of the action that has been taken on the irrigation system. In regard to the dam, the pipe and valve on the inside of the dam that was not going to be used any more was removed. There is now a pipe going through the dam with a valve and new concrete to prevent leaking. There are still a few items to be taken care of before water can be pumped into the pond. Mayor Davies removed about 50 yards of dirt from the pond. It will be used for backfill on the pond. The main pump house on Granite Creek has a pump that will be hooked up and used to fill up the main pond. The electrician will need to work on the meter. There are also a few repairs that need to be made before water can be run through the lines. Councilman Cassel had a question about water that was running down McDevitt. Councilman Wells discussed some shut off valves. He informed council about the pump at the shop. It is not repairable for less than a new pump price. Councilman Wells suggested purchasing a new pump.
Councilman Arnold made a motion to approve the purchase of a new pump for no more than $4,000, Councilman Meek 2nd. Motion passed.
Financial Update
A finance update was given by the clerk about past due and delinquent accounts. Notices will be sent out to past due and delinquent accounts.
CEMETERY
There is a group coming in to clean up a few cemetery plots and visit the museum.
ANNOUNCEMENTS None
CONSTITUENT INPUT
Melody Stearns had a question about Mesplie Rd. She also had a question about people dumping pine needles and garbage. The Mayor said the needles were on BLM property. Melody suggested posting something. The Mayor suggested addressing the BLM or George Butters. Councilman Arnold said he’d discourage people from dumping items there.
